The following nine organisations have won backing from Tower :
The Aberdare-based Green Meadow Riding for the Disabled Group
celebrated moving into its 11th successful year with a three-year
agreement with Tower Colliery, back in August 1997. The money
invested will allow disabled people of all ages to enjoy riding horses and ponies.
Secondary Schools in the Cynon Valley are set to benefit
The popular Aberdare Valley Football League for children
between the ages of 11 and 16 years have also received
sponsorship from Tower, which has ensured sufficient
facilities, better equipment and qualified coaches.
Abercwmboi RFC were ensured mini- and junior sections of
the club to be strengthened as a result of an agreement with Tower.
With more than 100 youngsters on its books, the club is now
able to offer them exclusive facilities as well as Welsh
Rugby Union training to help its coaches become qualified.
And Hirwaun RFC's sponsorship from Tower has provided
Cymmer Afan ABC (Amateur Boxing Club) received sufficient
Aberdare Cricket Club received support for a youth
team of under 12's. Providing the club with equipment and
a coach.
Junior Athletics run by the Aberdare Valley Amateur
Athletic Club will be able to expand safely following a
generous investment to run over three years from 1997 to
August 2000. The club will use this sponsorship to buy
the necessary safety equipment for juniors to be able to
train safely while learning to master the correct techniques
of athletic disciplines.

for teaching juniors the basic skills of rugby.
