National Union of Mineworkers
South Wales Headquarters

Serving a membership of some 12,000 full-time
and affiliated members, the South Wales NUM
operates out of a two-storey building adjacent
to Pontypridd Rugby Football Club at Sardis Road,
Maesycoed.

From these premises the full-time Secretary and
his staff deal with all matters relating to terms and
conditions of employment and retirement for
current and former employees of the mining
industry. Much has changed in mining over the
past decade with the notable privatisation of the
coalfield in 1994 - thus calling upon a diversity of
experience and knowledge within the union.
