The JOY 4LS09 double ended ranging drum shearer is an 1100 volt
machine designed to produce 55 tonnes of coal per minute
at haulage speeds of between 0 and 20 metres per minute
(0 - 65 fpm) in seams from 1.4 to 3.5 metres (4.7-11ft) thick.
It is a double arm machine fitted with a drum of 1.82m
(72") in diameter.
The 4LSO9 is controlled by radio remote control, and
at present is the
most modern coal cutting machine in the world.
